Yoga Studio Coordinator
yoga@vailmountainlodge.com
I am so excited to take on the Yoga Studio Coordinator position!
The Yoga Studio, conveniently located within the Vail Athletic Club, is a full yoga center offering group classes, specialty workshops, and private instruction. We offer a variety of yoga disciplines combining mindful motion with breath, and our challenging and transformative practice is suitable for both beginners and experienced yoga practitioners. Our mission is to provide exceptional yoga instruction in an atmosphere that promotes growth and community for students and teachers together. Please join us for your Vail yoga practice!
We are a free-style vinyasa yoga studio within the VAC. Freestyle vinyasa integrates the breath-based flow of Ashtanga and the precision of Anusara into a deep, sweaty, transformative mind/body experience. And, though all the Yoga Studio teachers are grounded in a tradition, we are all drawn to vinyasa-creativity-expression-movement, sometimes through traditional Ashtanga and sometimes through a freeing flow of asana. Our souls are truly in vinyasa, and the Yoga Studio has a free-style vinyasa vibe. Our class descriptions below integrate the best of our teachers with a fun yoga experience.
Yoga Classes
Anjali Restorative Yoga
Anjali Restorative Yoga is a deeply restful practice where the practitioner is guided through a series of meditations and thoughtful visualizations while the body is held and supported by bolsters, pillows, and blankets. By resting deeply, the body engages its natural ability to heal and rest. The effect is profoundly nurturing, thoughtful, and balancing.
Restorative Yoga
A delicious and restorative yoga practice. True relaxation is often more elusive than we think. Restorative poses are the perfect antidote to stress and fatigue. Sometimes approached through therapeutic stretching and other times more deeply supported with props like blocks and blankets, this class has a particular ability to create a muscular experience in your body while nurturing and soothing. It will renew your energy and bring conscious, deep relaxation.
Happy Hour Yoga
A monthly class, Happy Hour Yoga is a full-spectrum, playful and dynamic exploration of the more challenging (and fun-filled) side of yoga. This is a guided practice led by our senior teachers where you will be invited to dig a little deeper into your ever-evolving yoga practice. Come and explore arm balancing and inversions, back bends and binds, breath work, bandha, and more within a fun Vinyasa flow. You do not need to have an advanced practice to enjoy this class; just bring self-interest, an open heart and a sense of humor! Vail Valley yoga teachers welcome for $10.
FoundationS Yoga
Let's face it, for some of us, walking into an all-levels yoga class can be overwhelming and intimidating. Geared towards brand new beginners, those coming back after a long break, or those of you who have been curious but cautious when it comes to regular yoga classes, this class will cover everything you need to know to practice safely and solidly. Join us in a safe and comfortable environment to explore the foundational poses and intentions of vinyasa yoga, the breath- and movement-based yoga that we practice at The Yoga Studio at the Vail Athletic Club.
Kundalini Yoga & Gong Relaxation with Onkar
In this inspiring practice, we use the ancient technology of Kundalini Yoga, meditation and gong vibration therapy to bring the mind, body and soul into balance. Using postures, pranayam (breathing techniques), mantra repitition and meditation, we align ourselves for a deep, divine experience of our inner truth. Onkar uses the sound of the gong to create a fluent state of meditation and therapeutic relaxation that facilitates the movement of prana (vital life energy) through the body to awaken the consciousness for relaxation, rejuvenation and transformation.
Vitality Flow Yoga
Meaning to place your attention in a special way, a Vinyasa practice is characterized by fluid movement linked to the breath, and an emphasis on alignment. Our Vitality Flow Yoga classes are designed to cultivate heat in the body with creative sequences involving sun salutations, standing and seated postures, back bending, arm balancing, and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness. While classes reflect the distinctive personality and background of each of our teachers, all follow the principles of transformation and embodiment that define Vinyasa Yoga. Expect to get your heart pumping in this sweaty, soulful flow!
Private Yoga Instruction
Receive individual attention with a personal yoga coach. A private yoga session can help if you're new to the practice, with an introduction of poses and flow, so as to make you more fluent when joining a group class. Also, it's a great idea to regularly meet with an individual yoga coach for a "tune up," or assessment of personal alignment and specific pose structure.
