The Yoga Studio, conveniently located within the Vail Athletic Club, is a full yoga center offering group classes, specialty workshops, and private instruction.  We offer a variety of yoga disciplines combining mindful motion with breath, and our challenging and transformative practice is suitable for both beginners and experienced yoga practitioners.  Our mission is to provide exceptional yoga instruction in an atmosphere that promotes growth and community for students and teachers together. Please join us for your Vail yoga practice!

We are a free-style vinyasa yoga studio within the VAC. Freestyle vinyasa integrates the breath-based flow of Ashtanga and the precision of Anusara into a deep, sweaty, transformative mind/body experience. And, though all the Yoga Studio teachers are grounded in a tradition, we are all drawn to vinyasa-creativity-expression-movement, sometimes through traditional Ashtanga and sometimes through a freeing flow of asana. Our souls are truly in vinyasa, and the Yoga Studio has a free-style vinyasa vibe. Our class descriptions below integrate the best of our teachers with a fun yoga experience.

42 Days to Personal Transformation

Challenge the body, free the mind in Vail

The Vail Athletic Club's 42 to Personal Transformation uses yoga, meditation and diet to inspire an internal revolution.

Using only three words to explain why you joined a program designed to inspire a life transformation seems difficult, but all of the participants' intentions could have been explained in merely two words: to change.

Yoga and the Five Elements

Indigenous tribes across the globe have used the elements in healing rituals and practices since the be- ginning of time. This intensive practice incorporates the five elements (earth, water, fire, mineral, and nature) of the Dagara Tribe from Burkina Faso, West Africa. Learn how your yoga practice naturally promotes healing by evoking the power of the elements. You will ground into the earth to achieve sup- port and foundation in your life. You will flow with the water to attract abundance and fluidity to your life. You will ignite the fire in yourself to create motivation, passion, inspiration, and personal power.

Anjali Restorative

Anjali Restorative Yoga is a deeply restful practice where the practitioner is guided through a series of meditations and thoughtful visualizations while the body is held and supported by bolsters, pillows, and blankets. By resting deeply, the body engages its natural ability to heal and rest. The effect is profoundly nurturing, thoughtful, and balancing.

Prana Vinyasa Flow

Allow your Prana to guide you through the flow of yoga! Prana is the source of our breath, our life. Find your grace, strength and fluidity while cultivating your breath within. This class will be rejuvenating and empowering using cycles of sequences around the flow of our breath. Tara Goike has been teaching children’s and adult yoga for six years and received her certification from Shiva Rea in Prana Vinyasa Flow. She is an art and physical education teacher, where yoga is a main focus of her school curriculum.

Power Hour Yoga

We used to think that an hour was way too short for a yoga class, and then we discovered power hour:  a 65 minute straight up shot of all the good stuff.  We start at the front of our mats in this strong, all-levels class and flow for 60 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of blissful rest.

Master Series Vinyasa Yoga

So you love yoga and practice regularly (at least twice a week)?  You are working on your basic inversions (headstand, pincha) and are building towards or can experience full wheel.  But you want more . . . a deeper understanding of how we build sequences or a pose that has eluded you.  Come to master series, a two-hour vinyasa flow designed to deepen your practice through inversions, backbending, fun transitions, and sequencing.  Led by our most experienced teachers, this class gives you an opportunity to enhance your understanding of asana, alignment, and bandhas.  (Twelve class series with each teacher, ongoing rotation.)

Group Meditation Sit

Group meditation sit simply provides a community and space to sit with if you’re incorporating meditation into your life practice.  Please join us.

Vinyasa Yoga

A vinyasa (flowing movement with breath) style yoga with an emphasis on creativity and alignment.  Classes are inventive and thoughtful sequences of sun salutations, standing and seated postures, back bending, and inversions guided by a steady breath to tone and calm the mind.  Most teachers also use bandha work to open and strengthen the inner body. You’ll hear everything from ACDC, Krishna Das, Beyonce, or simply the sound of your own breath.  Classes reflect the distinctive personality and yogic background of each of our teachers.  Expect to get your heart pumping in this sweaty, soulful vinyasa flow!

Yoga for SUMMER Sports

Let's face it, once ski and snowboard season is over most of us are eager to get on our bikes, hit the hiking trails, go for long runs, even train for marathons, along with all the other countless summer sports that we have at our fingertips in Vail!  This yoga class is designed with all of those in mind to help you stay strong and also counteract what some of these activities do to our bodies.  We will focus on hip opening, forward folds to keep the hamstrings long and strong, core strength, shoulder opening, and back bending to keep our bodies well rounded as a whole, and keep the mind clear and focused.

FoundationS Yoga

Let's face it, for some of us, walking into an all-levels yoga class can be overwhelming and intimidating.  Geared towards brand new beginners, those coming back after a long break, or those of you who have been curious but cautious when it comes to regular yoga classes, this class will cover everything you need to know to practice safely and solidly.  Join us in a safe and comfortable environment to explore the foundational poses and intentions of vinyasa yoga, the breath- and movement-based yoga that we practice at The Yoga Studio at the Vail Athletic Club.

Restorative Flow Yoga

A delicious and restorative yoga practice. True relaxation is often more elusive than we think. Restorative poses are the perfect antidote to stress and fatigue.  Expect some brisk vinyasa to warm your body, followed by deep stretching and long holds. Sometimes approached through smooth vinyasa and other times more deeply supported with props like blocks and blankets.  This class has a particular ability to create a muscular experience in your body while nurturing and soothing. It will renew your energy and bring conscious, deep relaxation.

Guided Meditation

Guided meditation is offered in the same vipassana style as our other class, but with intermittent instructions to help to focus the awareness.  Traditional techniques are given to fine tune the awareness away from agitation or dullness.  Vipassana meditation is focused on sitting quietly and witnessing the body and breathing.  Please join us.

Generation Yoga

A yoga class designed specifically for older adults! The benefits of yoga are now well known . . . lending our bodies strength and flexibility, and our minds some much-needed inner calm. We will practice slow-paced vinyasas (movement thru poses with breath), and offer modifications to accommodate any aches or injuries. And of course, there's plenty of time for questions and laughing in this social environment! All levels are welcome—no experience required!

Private Yoga Instruction

Receive individual attention with a personal yoga coach.  A private yoga session can help if you're new to the practice, with an introduction of poses and flow, so as to make you more fluent when joining a group class.  Also, it's a great idea to regularly meet with an individual yoga coach for a "tune up," or assessment of personal alignment and specific pose structure.
