Functional Training

Join us for the Vail Athletic Club's signature gym program: functional training. Functional training is athletic movement thru different planes, on varied surfaces, to train all people for life and for the sports they enjoy. It is moving athletically and intensely, utilizing body weight exercises like pushups, pull-ups, and lunges, challenging balance by using unstable surfaces, and incorporating the fun toys we have at our disposal: plyo boxes, kettlebells, stretch cords, hurdles, plyo ladders, cones, Olumpic bars, and more. Join us in class or for a private or partner training session. Functional training is fast-paced, ever-changing, addictive, and completely adaptable to all ages and abilities . . . join us!

PRIVATE AND PARTNER TRAINING

For functional training, Pilates, yoga, and climbing, we provide the highest level of expertise and professionalism in our training sessions, whether working privately or as a group. Our greatest goal is to help you achieve results and we are confident you will see gains in your fitness and progress toward your goals. If interested in multiple sessions, we invite you to join the VAC as a “Private Training” or “Vitality” member, both of which include four monthly private training sessions.

BODY COMPOSITION ANALYSIS

A measure of your lean mass and fat mass—information that will help set goals and track progress. Body Composition Analysis is complimentary with your initiation fee.

Body Composition Analysis $25 for members, $30 for guests

 


 

Cardiovascular and Strength Classes

MOUNTAIN DIVAS

This class is created especially for women!  Understand the benefits of training in an outdoor setting and become more familiar with important outdoor training exercises such as hill running, power hiking, and agility drills.  Develop strength and balance skills using the natural environment such as rocks, trees, and hills.  Class uses trail running shoes or snowshoes.

 

Functional Training

A quick and dirty fitness experience!  Functional training, the buzz of the fitness industry, includes powerful and dynamic body movements to prepare you for performance in your sports, and performance in your life.  This 45 minute class packs an intense workout with always-changing exercises including kettlebells, medicine balls, bodyweight, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and more.  Come join this high-energy, performance-based class! 

 

GET OUT! Functional Training

Free to the community, please join us this summer at the west end of Ford Park for an outdoor version of our signature VAC class, functional training.

Functional training, the buzz of the fitness industry, includes powerful and dynamic body movements to prepare you for performance in your sports, and performance in your life. This 60 minute class packs an intense workout with always-changing exercises including kettlebells, medicine balls, bodyweight, Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and more.

No experience necessary. Encouragement from your friends and fellow-participants is part of the class . . . join us for this highenergy, performance-based, all-levels, outdoor workout! 

 

Generation Fitness

Generation Fitness is a fitness class designed exclusively for older adults!  This is a very low impact class that is designed to increase strength, range of movement, agility, balance, and coordination.  As a group, participants will improve functional capacities, physical fitness level, and sense of well-being.

Foundations Functional Training

This fun and fast-paced class teaches the foundational exercises of our functional gym. Functional training, the buzz of the fitness industry, includes powerful and dynamic body movements to prepare you for performance in your sports, and performance in your life. This 45 minute class will teach the basics of safe alignment and movement thru multiple planes when using Olympic bars, kettlebells, and body weight, and performing plyometric exercises. Perfect for beginners or those new to the Vail Athletic Club’s Functional Training program.

 

Masters Functional Training

For the more advanced athlete and those experienced with functional training exercises, Masters Functional Training will pack a punch. Moving through an intense workout quickly, athlete participants will perform multiple exercises creating a cardio and strength workout in a short 45 minute time period.

 

Cycle Conditioning

Our Cycle Conditioning classes will take you through all the fundamentals of a solid biking program, plus offers a great cross-training opportunity for a well-rounded cardio workout. Held on our indoor LeMond spinners, our certified instructors will "guide" you through a series of hills, jumps, sprints, and flats—all with great music to keep you going! Classes will emphasize using your heart rate as a tool for performance. All levels are welcome, as everyone can enjoy the same cycling workout at their own pace! Water bottles, heart rate monitors, and proper bike attire are recommended. Classes are offered in five different types:

Endurance Focused on building aerobic capacity and working hard for a consistent period of time.
Strength Focused on increasing cycling strength with more “hills” and “jumps.”
Interval
Focused on interval training—with regular periods of high intensity alternating with periods of low intensity.
All terrain
A little bit of everything—class will include some intervals, some “flats,” and some “hills.”
Race
An all out effort to simulate a race day!

 

Track Workout

Meet the group at Old Battle Mountain High School track (in Eagle-Vail) for a great workout!  Whether training for distance or sprints, the track is an invaluable tool for interval work, plyometrics, gait analysis, and field tests.  All levels are welcome.  Complimentary for both members and guests, so please bring your friends!  Group will run rain or shine.
