Started in 2008, the Vail Mountain Winter Uphill is the premiere winter endurance event located in the heart of Vail. The course shoots up approximately 2,000 feet and two miles from Lionshead Village to Eagle's Nest, at the top of the gondola on Vail Mountain, following the groomed Simba ski run. Participants can choose their own footwear: sneakers, snowshoes, or skinned skis.
The Vail Mountain Winter Uphill is organized in memory of Vailite Lyndon Ellefson, and in support of Vail Valley Charitable Foundation and the US Mountain Running Team.
